We’ve had another fantastic year at Music Generation Dublin City! Our programmes continue to grow and evolve, reaching more young people across Dublin City than ever before. From inspiring band camps and musician school visits to special football jerseys, 2025 has been a year full of creativity and excitement for everyone at MGDC.

Here’s some of our highlights for 2025.

Now working with 50 Primary Schools across the city!

This year marked a major milestone for Music Generation Dublin City as we welcomed our 50th primary school into the programme. We’re delighted that even more young people now have access to high-quality music education through our talented team of musician educators.

Alongside weekly vocal and instrumental sessions, students enjoyed a great year of visits and performances. Khuur from Mongolia captivated children with their beautiful instruments, while Roma band Musicantia brought energy and excitement with an Irish–Roma crossover céilí dance. Highlights also included a visit from composer Fergus Johnston and trips to our LMEP partners at The National Concert Hall, Royal Irish Academy of Music and Trinity University Dublin.

St Patrick’s Day Parade Festival

Big congratulations to all involved in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin. This annual project with the City of Dublin Youth Services connects many young people across the city as they drum and march through Dublin on the biggest day of the year. Well done to all our musician educators on their hard work rehearsing and prepping the young people for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Bohemians FC x Oasis Jersey

Just before the biggest band in the world came to Croke Park in August, Oasis collaborated with Bohemians FC on their new 2025 FAI jersey and generously donated a percentage of the profits to Music Generation Dublin City as well as 5 other programs nationwide.

We were absolutely thrilled to receive such a generous donation alongside Music Generation Cork City, Music Generation Mayo, Music Generation Laois, Music Generation Limerick City and Music Generation Waterford

Jerseys are still available from Bohemians FC website below.

DC Sounds Bandcamp and Performance

On June 30th, 5 of Dublin’s finest new bands played sets to a sold-out Dublin crowd, showcasing the great work done at the 2-week DC Sounds bandcamp in BIMM Dublin.

The DC Sounds Bandcamp, a partnership between Bohemian FC, BIMM Institute Dublin, and Music Generation DC, provided live performance workshops, studio skills, songwriting sessions, and time with some of Ireland’s finest Music Tutors and producers.

The five bands, Juggernaut, Karibu Sana, Southbound, Rockjam Allstars, and Nostalgia, have all worked with local music programs like Swan Centre Youth Club, Rockjam, The Irish Youth Music Awards, and SubSounds.

The sold-out venue heard a mix of originals and Thin Lizzy Covers – as the whole thing was funded with proceeds from the Bohemians and Thin Lizzy 2024 Jersey Collaboration!

National Music Educator Gathering 2025

In October, over 500 Musician Educators from across the country joined together for MG’s National Musician Educator Gathering 2025. It was an event full of workshops and inspiring conversations led by Pete Churchill and Dame Evelyn Glennie as well as educators from across the program.

Two of our own bright, young musicians from Saint Finian’s, Finglas, Hallie and Kallie, were on site as Young Ambassadors, interviewing the guests for Music Generation’s socials. We’re looking forward to seeing more of the girls in the new year!

Christmas Concerts with NEIC Choirs

We ended the year with the beautiful NEIC Youth and Adults performing their Christmas Concert at Our Lady of Loudres Church, Dublin 1.

The project is a collaboration between Dublin City Connects and Music Generation Dublin City, connecting 10 primary schools across Dublin’s Inner City and bringing them together for one night of festive fun!

Led by Jacqui Garcia and Max Greenwood, the performance was the perfect evening to get everyone in the festive spirit with beautiful renditions of classics such as ‘Silent Night’, We’re Walking in the Air’ and ‘Winter Wonderland’.

2025 wrapped!

What a year it’s been and this is only a snapshot of our work, with our programs in schools and youth centres continuing to deliver high quality music education all year round.

Congratulations and well done to all the young people who are the true stars of Music Generation Dublin City. We’d like to thank all of our partnerships and funders for their continuous support of the young people of Dublin City. Bring on 2026!
