Primary School Programmes
The two Primary School programs Music Explorers (Junior – 2nd Class) and Music Club (3rd to 6th class) are year-long programmes, delivered by a dedicated Musician Educator once a week in your school.
The Music Explorers lessons introduce a joyful and fun first experience of music via song, movement, rhythm and percussion.
For Music Club students, the lessons evolve to more student led creativity and exploration using the voice, instruments, songwriting and music production.
Our primary schools programmes benefit from regular school visits from performing musicians and visits to our partners at the National Concert Hall, RIAM and TU Dublin.
Post-Primary Programmes
The two Post-Primary programmes, Vox Club and Songwriting & Production Club, are year-long courses, delivered by a dedicated Musician Educator.
The programmes are designed to work in tandem with the Music curriculum, but not replace it. Our sessions are in “Performance Music Education” – experiential music sessions – which are as much about teamwork, joy, and communication as the music itself.
Vox Club
For the Vox Club programme, young people have access to high-quality vocal tuition that will develop the practical skills required to perform across many forms; from a contemporary live band to a modern choir. The programs are from 1 hour per week for up to 22 weeks in the year.
This programme prepares them for live settings, as well as songwriting and arranging, giving them a great foundation in music and performance.
Songwriting & Production Club
For the Songwriting & Production Club programme, young people gain the knowledge in recording and creating modern contemporary music; through songwriting, music production and performance. The programs are from 1 hour per week for up to 22 weeks in the year.
We work with browser-based software, so we can work off standard school computers. We can work across genres, and adapt to the interests of the class.
Afterschool Instrument Clubs
Our Instrument Clubs are long-term small-group lessons, delivered by experienced Musician Educators in during or after school hours. The sessions will be a personal music-making experience for your child or young person incorporating learning objectives that develop pulse, pitch, and instrument technique for the young musician within the classroom.
The goal of these weekly sessions is to introduce the children to performance-based Instrument playing in a group music-making scenario while building musical confidence. We will provide the instrument & associated worksheets for these sessions.
We currently offer Ukulele, Guitar, Piano and DJing as part of this programme.
DC Sounds Band Programmes
In addition to our instrument program we can offer a band program in our Post-Primary age group – our instrument program with added live band weeks.
The goal of these augmented sessions is to introduce the children to performance-based Instrument playing – all the benefits of the instrument sessions with real opportunities to play and perform with their peers!
We currently offer Drums, Bass, Ukulele, Guitar, and Piano, but are open to all vocal accompaniment instruments. We can also be flexible with your schools’ needs and schedules to make the program work during school hours or afterwards.
