Primary School Programmes
The two Primary School programs (Music Explorers for Junior – 2nd Class) and Music Club (3rd to 6th class) are year-long classes, delivered by a dedicated Musician Educator (Fully Vaxed, Garda vetted, and highly experienced) over one or two days in your school.
For the younger classes, the lessons incorporate percussion, rhythm, singing, chanting, and movement. For the older students, from 3rd -6th class, the lessons develop from the early years to also include group singing, creativity, and real-world workshops; and include visiting musicians, instrumentalists, and groups. These programmes prepare them for moving on to an instrument, giving them an excellent foundation in music. The program is designed by our experienced Musician Educators in partnership with The Ark.
Post-Primary Programmes
The two Post-Primary programmes, Vox Club and Songwriting & Production Club, are year-long, delivered by a dedicated Musician Educator, over one or two days in your school. The programmes are designed to work in tandem with the Music curriculum, but not replace it. Our sessions are in “Performance Music Education” – experiential music sessions – which are as much about teamwork, joy, and communication as the music itself.
Vox Club
For the Vox Club programme, Young people will have access to high-quality vocal tuition that challenges the students in presentational Performance Music Education – to gain the practical skills to perform with everything from a contemporary live band to a modern choir. The programs are from 1 hour per week for up to 22 weeks in the year. We provide percussion instruments and any other resources necessary. This programme prepares them for live settings, arrangements, and songwriting, giving them a great foundation in music. The program is designed by our experienced Musician Educators and our Local Music Education Partners.
Songwriting & Production Club
For the Songwriting & Production Club programme, Young people develop the skills of production, songwriting, and performance; designed to gain the skills to write. perform, and record modern contemporary music, with a view to vocal accompaniment. The programs are from 1 hour per week for up to 22 weeks in the year. We work with browser-based software, so we can work off standard school computers. We can work across genres, and adapt to the interests of the class. Again, The program is designed by our experienced Musician Educators and our Local Music Education Partners.
Afterschool Instrument Clubs
Our Instrument Clubs are long-term small-group lessons, delivered by experienced Musician Educators in during or after school hours. The sessions will be a personal music-making experience for your child or young person incorporating learning objectives that develop pulse, pitch, and instrument technique for the young musician within the classroom.
The goal of these weekly sessions is to introduce the children to performance-based Instrument playing in a group music-making scenario while building musical confidence. We will provide the instrument & associated worksheets for these sessions.
We currently offer Ukulele, Guitar, and Piano, but are open to all vocal accompaniment instruments!
DC Sounds – Band Program!
In addition to our instrument program we can offer a band program in our Post-Primary age group – our instrument program with added live band weeks.
The goal of these augmented sessions is to introduce the children to performance-based Instrument playing – all the benefits of the instrument sessions with real opportunities to play and perform with their peers!
We currently offer Drums, Bass, Ukulele, Guitar, and Piano, but are open to all vocal accompaniment instruments. We can also be flexible with your schools’ needs and schedules to make the program work during school hours or afterwards.
