What a busy week last week at Music Generation Dublin City. Workshops were in full swing this month with our partners at the National Concert Hall and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

To kick off workshop week, the students of South City C.N.S and St. Brigid’s G.S.N.S were invited to a day of workshops at the National Concert Hall. Here, the students had the opportunity to learn about Indonesian Gamelan music and were invited to explore and play some traditional Gamelan instruments.

It was then onto the Brazilian part of the day to learn about samba drumming followed by an energetic vocal workshop, wrapping up the day with a rendition of ‘Pink Pony Club’.

Meanwhile, the RIAM Brass Ensemble were busy visiting Christ the King B.N.S and Gaelscoil Uí Earcáin, showcasing this exciting family of instruments.

Students were invited to an in school performance where they listened and learned all about brass, with some students invited to be a conductor for day and lead the ensemble in their performance. The kids had an absolute blast at these concerts, especially when ‘Golden’ by K Pop Demon Hunters was played during the encore. We may need to invest in some trumpets and trombones soon!

All of these workshops are a fantastic opportunity for the young people of Dublin City to explore and experience these instruments. We are so fortunate to have the support of our partners at the NCH and the RIAM, providing access and opportunities for the young people at Music Generation Dublin City.

We’re already looking forward to the next round of workshops very soon.
